ITINERARY

Day 1.
Cuiabá airport to Pouso Alegre, a traditional Pantanal ranch.

Arrival at Cuiabá airport in the morning, where you will meet your guide and transfer to the Pantanal. After driving about one and a half hour we arrive in Poconé. From here our birding adventure starts as we hit the Transpantaneira road, a dirt road that transects the Northern Pantanal. We will arrive at our lodge just before lunch time. After our midday break we go on a forest walk in search for forest birds & dry land mammals. At night we go on a night safari in search for night animals like Ocelot, Puma, Giant Anteaters, Tamandua, Crab-eating Raccoon, Potoos and Owls. Dinner and Overnight. (L,D)

Day 2.

Full day at Pouso Alegre Lodge - Traditional Pantanal ranch.

We have a full day to explore the many wildlife opportunities at this place. Besides hundred of bird species, this ranch stands the best spot to find Giant Anteaters & Tapirs in the Northern Pantanal, and often offers close encounters with other species such as Red-brocket and Marsh Deer, Coati, Tayra, and Brazilian Tapir. After dinner we will go on a night safari in search of mammals and other nocturnal wildlife which may yield good views of Great Horned Owl, nightjar, Pottoo and many other possibilities. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D).

Day 3.

Pouso Alegre lodge and transfer to Porto Jofre.

Early breakfast and checkout. This morning we drive further into the Pantanal, all the way to the end of the Transpantaneira road.  We will stop to photograph all kind of wildlife. Check-in at our lodge situated on the riverbank of the mighty Cuiabá river. Lunch and break. In the afternoon we go on our first boat safari in search for Jaguars and other Wildlife concentrated along the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Days 4 & 5.*
Boat safaris for Jaguars and other wildlife in the State Park.

We will have two full days devoted to the boat safaris on the Cuiabá River and its tributaries, in order to maximize our chances of watching and photographing Jaguars, Giant River Otters and a realm of wildlife in the Meeting of the Waters State Park. Our outings will always be during the day, from sunrise to lunch and after our midday break we go out again until sunset. (B,L,D)


Day 6.

Porto Jofre and back north to the Piuval lodge, Pantanal ranch.

Breakfast and check out. Overland safari to the Piuval lodge. We will stop to photograph all kind of wildlife and arrive around lunch time at our lodge. Checkin. After our midday break we go our for a forest walk in the monkey forest and enjoy the view on top of the 20m canopy tower. Dinner and overnight. (B,l,D). 

Day 7.

Piuval lodge - Pantanal ranch.

We have a full day to explore the many wildlife opportunities on the 10000 hectares ranch. Our activities are a combination of overland safaris, night safaris, and walking safaris. (B,L,D).

Day 8.

Piuval lodge to Cuiabá

Full morning of activities at the Piuval lodge (Horse back riding is possible!). Lunch and checkout. Transfer back to Cuiabá.
