JAGUAR SAFARIS
OVERVIEW
-
In the recent years, the Pantanal has emerged as the best place in the world to watch and photograph jaguars in the wild. Pantanal Jaguar Safaris takes its travelers to the Jaguar Kingdom into the depths of Pantanal, in search of this elusive cat along the rivers.
-
In this vast land two major rivers cross a mosaic of wetlands, savannas and tropical forests: the Cuiabá and Paraguay rivers. Our Jaguar Safaris take you to the renowned Meeting of the Waters State Park, in Porto Jofre, and also to the remote Taiamã Reserve, located along the Paraguay River. These vast protected areas have the world’s highest density of Jaguars due to lack of hunting, and a very high density of two of their favorite prey: caymans and capybaras.
-
The gateway towns to get access to these rivers are Poconé and Cáceres. Both regions are accessible by vehicle from Cuiabá. Pantanal Jaguar Safaris has chosen a variety of lodges from where you can explore this vast wetland in search of the elusive Jaguar. Your safari is primarily by motor boat which maximizes your chances of coming across a jaguar patrolling the river banks in search of food or lazing in the hazy sunshine on the forest fringes.

PJS provides private and proper size boats with top seats, which give photographers room to work without worrying about space and confort. These boats have a stable plataform designed for photographers with long lenses and tripods. We also offer night safaris by vehicle on our land base.
-
We cannot guarantee Jaguars every day, as a minority of days produce no sightings. Furthermore, sightings vary with heat, cold, rain, and seasonal water level changes. Despite the challenges, the Pantanal offers the best Jaguar record in the world.
-
Our guides are all English-speaking professionals regarded as the region's finest field guides. Our boatmen are all locally-born field guides, specially used to track this elusive cat along the river banks in this vast labyrinth of rivers.
